Description
Item 1366 – For sale is a beautiful Hiroshige Bird and Flower Print in a Bamboo Frame. The print features one of Hiroshige’s classic subject material, “Kasho-e” meaning “bird-and-flower”. The foliage is emerald and grey blue, the flowers feature coral and the delicate bird perching on a petal is variations of tangerine. There is delicate muted blue that fades from the top and bottom to the center. Black ink defines the shapes and the piece is signed by the artist in the bottom left corner. It is in very good condition.

Historical background on the first US owners of the piece: The gentleman who purchased this original work of art worked for the US State Department. He was with the first group of Americans entering China after the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989. Many original Chinese works of art were sold during that period. The heirs are now offering up several of those pieces, including this one, for consignment.
