Friday October 9th and Saturday October 10th

The Estate of Mary Jane Dockeray; Founder of Blandford Nature Center (BNC), is full of spectacular items.  Her travels around the world exploring, learning, teaching and collecting, along with the items she received from her Mother and Grandmother, have left us with a wonderful legacy of treasures and unique items.  Many of the documents, photographs, slides and rocks were distributed to organizations such as The Grand Rapids Public Library, Blandford Nature Center, various Professors and Colleagues to ensure that the legacy of her learning and teaching remains with us.  The house is still bursting with Artwork, Rocks, Slides, Pictures, Paintings, fabulous Linens and clothing and one-of-a-kind items from around the world.  Please keep watch as new items are listed and corresponding photos are uploaded.  You will surly find many unique pieces you won’t find anywhere else.  Below is a list of a the first few items:

– Wood Owl Panel; Drawn by Joan Stuerken when she and Mary saw one in a shop in Dammariscotta, ME about 1980.  Cut out and assembled from old barn wood by Len Vander Toorn, BNC Maintenance Supervisor.  It hung on Mary’s office door at BNC.
