Description
Item 0582 – This Antique Blue Willow Teapot, circa 1780-1800 with vibrant blue hand-painted detailed designs. The classic blue willow depiction of a water scene with pavillions is on the main vessel, but with variations created by the individual artist. There is a flower stalk design on the spout and delicate markings bordering the top of the teapot. Two separate pieces meet to make up the intertwining handle of the pot which has also been detailed in a blue hand-painted design. There is a chip on the end of the spout and a small crack at the base of the spout. The teapot is in fair antique condition. Additional Blue Willow pieces available for bid.
Additional information: Canton china is blue and white ware made near the city of Canton, China, from about 1785 to 1895. It is hand decorated with Chinese scenes. Canton china was decorated by families living in the city. True Canton china never had a person on a bridge in the scene pictured on the ware. Canton is part of the group of porcelains known today as Chinese Export Porcelain.
